Lagged a bit last week since I was only at work Tuesday and Wednesday, so we have a bit of catching up to do this week ;)
First off, Heider came through with another pair of reviews, covering the latest Timeless Recordings single, and the second Commercial Suicide vs. Offshore Recordings offering.
Last week's local directory event at Five went off well, and we have an update in events for their next two events. Be sure to check again soon, as there will be even more information going up shortly.
Finally, AYA-alumn Steve Eternal has resurrected his PMX Radio project, and now has a 24/7 shoutcast station. Check out the feed at: Stream #1 Stream #2

Psidream and Pacific are offering a large back catalog of unreleased MP3's through their own joint effort. It is a really good idea, and getting tunes out to people who have wanted them for quite a while, and it is not leaving the artists out cold. Check out the information and audio clips at:
Lets see how this shapes up, and perhaps other artists and labels will follow suit.

Keeping with the reinventiveness of the site, we present our first batch of record reviews for the year 2006. Local upstart Heider provided this week's reviews, and states that he will continue to supply us with more :)
Enjoy the extended weekend!

Tonight we present our first profile for the year 2006. It is a three part affair, questioning the guys of Robot Death Squad, based here in DC, with an operative up in the Great White North. Last year was a fortunate year for the RDS guys, and 2006 looks to be very promising.
The Q&A covers their thoughts on production, their excitement for drum'n'bass and dubstep, their tastes in alcohol, and an analysis of robotic heroism and villianry.

UK import Stakka has been living in New York the past few years, but has continued to produce and release records on his Cargo Industries label.
The site was recently revamped, and contains a lot of new features, including some new videos, a new remix single, full discography, and a new mix CD to be released late winter/early spring. Definitely give it a look.
In other DCDNB.org site news, local drum'n'bass Dj (and all around nice guy) Heider is going to try and supply the site with a few record reviews each week. More to be posted once we work that out.

Concord Dawn have just released a video for their upcoming release "Seasons," which will be on their third LP (I think?):
Seasons (Windows Media format) Seasons (Quicktime format)
The LP should be released in March 2006, followed by European and North American tours.
Also, thanks to the Bassrush crew in LA for the link. If any of you make it out west, try to make it out to one of the Bassrush events; they're doing a weekly called Funktion, and do regular one-offs.

Check out this recent interview hosted on MTLDNB up north:
Talk of recent collaborations (Dom & Gridlok - "Hooked (Tech Itch & Dieselboy remix)", Dieselboy & Gridlok collab), plus a new double CD (unreleased tunes plus a mix by ATL destoryers Evol Intent) and upcoming singles on Human Imprint.
Have a good weekend!

Already working on setting up profiles, with one local and one international on the deck. And the events page has been updated... the last event I had up there was from November 2004. So that definitely needed an update.
This will be for feedback, and getting information from other locals. Right now I am looking at who is interested in rockin' a DCDNB logo t-shirt, which we have not printed up in over two years.

Vinyl distrubtion is in a lull at the moment because of the recent holidays, so now is the time to grab some gems you may have missed the past few months, and to check out some of the smaller labels that might have slipped past you.
Riding on Darkenetiks's Tune of the Day 1.3.06 thread on the Buzzlife Message Board's DnB forum, I would like to recommend people check out Dutch label Avalanche Recordings. The Vicious Circle single is the most recent release, and they have a nice stable of artists building up, and not sticking to one specific feel in their releases. Plus the sleeve art is great!
It is also time to work on some new artist profiles. I am going to tap my co-worker, Signal, for the local feature about his production team Robot Death Squad, and work on Vancouver's Pacific for our North American/International feature. Plus I want to rally up some support for the guy to get booked in DC; dropping hints on the crew at Upfront Industries, while others have been hitting the Buzzlife team on their BOOK EM DANO!!! forum.
Also going to work on updating the events information tonight and tomorrow.

Two big tours coming through the DC area this winter so far, namely the DnB Liberation Front on January 20th at Cubik, and the Human Violence tour which will probably hit in February and also at Cubik. Information on both is available online:
DnB Liberation Front
Tour is featuring Mason, Dstar, Basic Operations, Vector Burn, Beet & Bad Lieutenant, plus MC's Sharpness & Armanni Reign. Local support from Deinfamous and Feight, plus word of Illy MC coming down from PHI.
DnB Liberation Front homepage: www.dnbliberation.com
Cubik event info: www.buzzlife.com
Human Violence
Tour is most likely featuring Dieselboy (Human Imprint) and Hive (Violence Recordings), but no word on who else at this time. We will post more once we know.
Human Imprint homepage: www.humanimprint.com
Check out the new site design by design group Bionic Systems, as well as the new logo (so metal!) and upcoming releases (new Evol Intent on the schedule, and I think everything else is on release now). Also, the stencil pack is a hot idea, something I've slacked on for the DCDNB site; those willing to experiment on some clothing might want to see how they turn out sprayed on old t's, hoodies or even denim.
Violence Recordings homepage: www.violencerecordings.com
Give a listen to the two upcoming singles on Violence; Hive's "The Definition/Keep Runnin'" and Gridlok's "Hard As Fuck/Fifth Dimension". I recently got both on promo release, so the full art-work release should not be far behind, and both are big singles... but I am really partial to "The Definition" and "Hard As Fuck".
More tours are sure to follow, and I will post info as I receive it.

Happy New Year!
I hope the recent holidays have treated everyone well. I know it was a nice kick start for myself, and I intend to go with that and spruce up the site a bit.
If you are a label owner, local promoter (as in Washington, DC), or just have a nice piece of drum'n'bass news, please feel free to contact me with information and I will post it as time permits. E-mail contact is ransom (at) dcdnb (dot) org, or you can try catching me on AIM with the screen name R4NS0M.
Also, for the record I am not involved with any record labels myself, nor any event production. I like to check out new tunes and mixes like the next person, but I can not release any tunes or book you for a party or radio show. I do try to point people in the right direction though.
